Suzanne (Suzi) Davey is a specialist and expert in the field of Lymphoedema Management since 1998. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut in 1995. In 1998, she received her Lymphoedema certification through the Dr. Vodder School North America in Manual Lymph Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy and LANA (Lymphology Association of North America) certified since 2000.
In 1999, she started Healing Hands of Lymphatics LLC in Hallandale Beach/Miami, Florida creating one of the first Lymphedema Therapy Clinics in Florida. She hired only certified Lymphedema Therapists- all specializing and providing care in all aspects of Lymphedema and Wound Care Therapy. She founded the Florida Lymphedema Therapist Networking Group and expanded her practice to create Healing Hand Seminars- a conference venue in 2010. Seeing the need to bring more collaboration among all of the specialized Lymphedema and Wound Care practitioners and to encourage mentoring and sharing their experiences, challenges and successes.
In 2012, she relocated to Hillcrest/Durban South Africa and sold Healing Hands of Lymphatics LLC to her previous employees and colleagues in 2014. She is now the President of Lymphoedema Association of South Africa (LAOSA), an Instructor for the 135 hour ILWTI Lymphoedema Certification Course, a member of the National Lymphedema Network, Lymphedema Education & Research Network and the International Society of Lymphology. Since moving to South Africa, she has been working as a consultant, Certified Lymphoedema Trainer and expert Custom Garment Educator. She has extensive training in Wound Care, Low Level Laser, Bio-Impedence, Kinesiology Elastic Taping, Compression Garments/Devices for day and night and Pneumatic Compression Devices specifically for Lymphoedema/Oedema. She has been involved in Clinical Lymphedema Research since 2005 collaborating with Nova Southeastern University, FL and has published and presented research papers, posters and publications at numerous National and International Lymphoedema, Wound Care and Physical Therapy conferences world-wide. She resides in Cape Town, South Africa.
Due to her passion and drive to increase awareness and knowledge of all medical and healthcare professionals about Lymphoedema Management and Basic Wound Care Treatments. She is excited to share her knowledge and experience through Lymphatic Education Africa (PTY) LTD and her continuing education courses. She established a collaboration with the International Lymphoedema and Wound Care Training Institute USA (ILWTI) where she is the founding Facilitator, bringing Lymphoedema and Wound Care Training Courses to South Africa and all of Africa.
